These two galaxies are far far away, 12 million gentle-years far away toward the northern constellation of the Big Score. On the left, with big spiral fingers and intellectual yellow core is spiral galaxy M81, some 100,000 gentle-years across. On the edifying marked by red gasoline and dust clouds, is irregular galaxy M82. The pair have been locked in gravitational combat for a thousand million years. Gravity from every galaxy has profoundly affected the different right thru a series of cosmic discontinuance encounters. Their final wander-spherical lasted about 100 million years and likely raised density waves rippling around M81, resulting within the richness of M81’s spiral fingers. M82 become left with violent superstar forming areas and colliding gasoline clouds so involving the galaxy glows in X-rays. Within the following couple of billion years, their persevering with gravitational encounters will lead to a merger, and a single galaxy will remain.
