The elegance on this image comes in layers. On the backside layer is the picturesque village of Manlleu in Barcelona, Spain. The six-minute publicity makes car lights into streaks. The subsequent layer is a mountain — Serra de Bellmunt — of Europe’s infamous Pyrenees. Subsequent up is a gargantuan lightning storm emanating from a classically-formed anvil cloud. The long publicity allowed for the glean of many intricate lightning bolts. Ultimately, at the close and furthest within the gap are stars. Right here, the multi-minute publicity made stars into trails. The trailing end is attributable to the rotation of the Earth, and the curvature of the trails indicates their distance from the north fling pole of the Earth above. Taken after sunset in early June, the lightning storm quickly moved off. The stars, though, will continue to circle the pollfor as long because the Earth spins — certainly billions of years into the long flee.
