Three Galaxies and a Comet

Diffuse starlight and darkish nebulae along the southern Milky Manner arc over the horizon and sprawl diagonally through this stunning nightscape. The breath-taking mosaic spans a huge 100 levels, with the rugged terrain of the Patagonia, Argentina device in the foreground. Alongside with the insider’s survey of our private galaxy, the image functions our out of doors point of view on two irregular satellite galaxies – the Vast and Cramped Magellanic Clouds. The scene also captures the gargantuan tail and brilliant coma of Comet McNaught, the Mighty Comet of 2007.
