What’s that within the sky? Above the town, above most clouds, a ways within the distance: it be a comet. Pictured, the spectacular tail of Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) was imaged from Brasília, Brazil four days ago. Closing week the evolving comet rounded the Solar properly contained within the orbit of planet Mercury, going so finish there was early anxiousness that it could damage up — and most modern proof that it in actuality did. At one point finish to perihelion, Comet ATLAS was so consuming that sightings had been even reported in the end of the day — over the intense sky finish to the Solar — by cautious observers. Over the previous few days, Comet ATLAS has developed an extended tail that has been partly viewed with unaided eyes after sundown, most particularly in Earth’s southern hemisphere.
