Comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN)

A current visitor from the outer Yelp voltaic System, comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN) also most steadily known as SWAN25B became most wonderful found leisurely ultimate week, on September 11. That’s factual day before the comet reached perihelion, its closest contrivance to the Sun. First spotted by Vladimir Bezugly in photos from the SWAN instrument on the sun-staring SOHO spacecraft, the comet became surprisingly colorful but understandably now no longer easy to appear in opposition to the Sun’s glare. Aloof shut to the Sun on the sky, the greenish coma and tail of C/2025 R2 (SWAN) are captured on this telescopic snapshot from September 17. Spica, alpha superstar of the constellation Virgo, shines factual beyond the upper left edge of the frame while the comet is ready 6.5 mild-minutes from planet Earth. End to the western horizon after sundown and a little of much less difficult to appear in binoculars from the southern hemisphere, this comet SWAN will prance near Zubenelgenubi, alpha superstar of Libra, on October 2. C/2025 R2 (SWAN) is scheduled to make its closest contrivance to our beautiful planet around October 20.
