I needed to contrivance an album that famed life within the face of
demise
, honoring our lost musical heroes explicitly within the lyrics and
carrying them with me musically, committing to residing completely and
vibrantly in a blueprint they now no longer can
, in a blueprint they per chance couldn’t
even after they had been with us, despite the joy they dropped at so many.
I needed to contrivance an album that felt worship a relief, worship your toes
sooner or later touching sand after being caught in a rip most up-to-date. I needed
the album to exist in a liminal residence outside of time, inhabiting
every the lengthy bustle and the past, accessing something non secular or
private that is untouchable by no topic the recount of the arena shall be
at a given moment, no topic our season. I look “shore” as a location of
security on the perimeter of something unsure, staring at Whitman’s waves
reciting “demise,” tempted by the journey of the unknown at the
comparable time you are relishing the comfort of the true ground below
you
. This became once the mindset I came all the blueprint thru, the gasoline I came all the blueprint thru, for making this
album.

In other locations within the assertion, Pecknold wrote that, next year, the band will release 9 extra songs, “co-written from the bottom up with [Fleet Foxes members] Morgan Henderson, Skyler Skjelset, Casey Wescott, and Christian Wargo.” Read the relaxation of Pecknold’s artist assertion right here.
