Singer Melissa Etheridge announced Wednesday that her and filmmaker Julie Cypher’s 21-three hundred and sixty five days-worn son Beckett Cypher, has died after shedding his battle with opioid dependancy.
“This day I joined the heaps of of hundreds of households who occupy misplaced loved ones to opioid dependancy. My son Beckett, who used to be beautiful 21, struggled to beat his dependancy and at final succumbed to it this day,” Etheridge wrote on Twitter. “…My coronary heart is broken.”
The opioid epidemic kills tens of hundreds of people a three hundred and sixty five days within the U.S.

Cypher gave birth to Beckett in 1998 after being artificially inseminated. While Etheridge and Cypher initially saved the identification of the organic father a secret, they later revealed it used to be singer David Crosby, who is also the organic father of the pair’s daughter, Bailey Jean.

Etheridge has been web hosting live performances on social media throughout the coronavirus pandemic, but Wednesday’s “concert from dwelling” session used to be canceled. In the announcement of Beckett’s dying, Etheridge stated, “I will advise yet again, soon. It has continually healed me.”
