Flesh-eating bacteria nearly kills Pinellas County man – FOX 13 News, Tampa Bay

OZONA, Fla. (FOX 13) – Fisherman Mike Walton is dwelling from the scientific institution, nursing a depraved damage after nearly losing his life to a flesh-eating micro organism.

It started with a minor accident a pair of weeks ago, when he used to be fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, shut to Ozona, Florida.

“I had zigzag my hand in the afternoon now not pondering the rest of it,” Walton acknowledged. “It used to be amazing how fleet it used to be spreading.”

Exiguous blisters on his hands later turn out to be shadowy. After a pair of days, he knew the antibiotics a doctor gave him weren’t working, so he drove himself to the emergency room right through the night.

“They admitted me proper off the location and obtained me into surgical procedure an hour or half of or so,” he acknowledged.

Walton says doctors told him he had a of course rare flesh-eating micro organism. Correct now, they’re working to accept out what rigidity.

“When I awoke and [saw] my hand silent attached, I used to be jubilant,” he acknowledged.

Then again, this used to be remarkable more serious than correct his hand, or arm.

“They acknowledged in a pair of hours this would have long gone up my arm into my chest and I wouldn’t were right here. There used to be no saving me,” Walton acknowledged.

He’s now again dwelling after three surgical procedures and a week in the scientific institution. 

Walton is a building worker, now out of work. That’s where his fishing pals on the Ozona Fish Camp come in in. 

Eric Mclendon says they’re raising money on-line and holding tournaments to wait on their buddy.

“Every person has been contributing, all people has been pitching in, all people has been desperate to again him. I mean, he helps everybody! That’s correct the diversity of person he is,” Mclendon told FOX 13 Monday.

Mike says he’s lucky to have such vast friends and even luckier to be alive.

“I’m correct jubilant to be right here,” Walton acknowledged. “I will be able to’t wait to return fishing now not going to lie about that!”
