Climate change may turn octopuses partially blind from lack of oxygen

Marine animals hasty lose the skill to gaze after they enter water that’s low in oxygen. The finding suggests the animals also can fight within the impending decades, as local climate commerce is causing low-oxygen zones within the ocean to spread.

Lillian McCormick of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, California and her colleagues studied the larvae of 4 marine animals: market squid, two-blueprint octopus, tuna crab and brachyuran crab. All these larvae depend heavily on imaginative and prescient.
