Comet Leonard and the Whale Galaxy

Sweeping thru northern predawn skies, on November 24 Comet Leonard (C/2021 A1) became as soon as caught between two galaxies on this composite telescopic image. Carrying a greenish coma the comet’s dusty tail looks to harpoon the guts of NGC 4631 (top) moreover usually called the Whale galaxy. Needless to claim NGC 4631 and NGC 4656 (bottom, aka the Hockey Stick) are background galaxies some 25 million gentle-years away. On that date the comet became as soon as about 6 gentle-minutes from our beautiful planet. Its closest formulation to Earth (and even nearer formulation to Venus) silent to return, Comet Leonard will develop brighter in December. Already a correct object for binoculars and small telescopes, this comet will seemingly no longer return to the inner Solar System. Its perihelion, or closest formulation to the Solar, would maybe be on January 3, 2022.
