nasa image
Distorted galaxy NGC 2442 will even be found in the southern constellation of the flying fish, (Piscis) Volans. Located about 50 million gentle-years away, the galaxy’s two spiral arms extending from a pronounced central bar give it a hook-fashioned look in this deep spicy picture, with spiky foreground stars scattered one day of the telescopic self-discipline of leer. The image also finds the a ways away galaxy’s obscuring dirt lanes, young blue star clusters and reddish star forming areas surrounding a core of yellowish gentle from an older inhabitants of stars. However the star forming areas seem extra concentrated alongside the drawn-out (upper marvelous) spiral arm. The distorted construction is probably the tip consequence of an historical shut bump into with the smaller galaxy considered shut to the discontinuance left of the frame. The two interacting galaxies are separated by about 150,000 gentle-years on the estimated distance of NGC 2442.
