SpaceX has plans to fly space tourists twice as high as the ISS

SpaceX is offering tickets for space vacationers to flee aboard the the same type of spacecraft that will lift NASA astronauts to the Worldwide Space Space (ISS). Through a partnership with the space tourism company Space Adventures, four tickets are on sale to flee some distance above the ISS aboard a Crew Dragon spacecraft.

Space Adventures isn’t new to the space tourism sport: between 2001 and 2009, it sent seven internal most other folks to the Worldwide Space Space aboard the Russian Soyuz spacecraft, charging thousands and thousands of dollars per flight. Since then, it has persisted to sell tickets to space to properly off other folks such as Google co-founder Sergey Brin, but has no longer flown every other missions.

Now, the company is poised to begin its flights again. SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft used to be developed to lift NASA astronauts to the ISS, and already executed a flight to the ISS without crew in March. Its first flight with crew is planned for this year.

The flight with vacationers aboard is slated to happen after NASA’s first flight, in leisurely 2021 or 2022, but this would most likely simply take care of shut a definite trajectory. The mission will orbit Earth for as much as five days at an altitude two to three instances bigger than the ISS, tweeted Space Adventures CEO Eric Anderson.

“The associated charge of the mission will not be any longer going to be disclosed, but in the fluctuate as other orbital spaceflight opportunities,” says Space Adventures manual Stacey Tearne. Prices for other Space Adventures flights indulge in ranged from spherical $20 million for a day out to the ISS to $150 million for planned flights right via the moon.
